// Things I love (VI)

Loving the muted, pastel shades of these photos, and the warmth they omit. I’ve linked them all back to weheartit so that any users of that site can heart any of these images they like. Enjoy ♥

// Things I love (I)

24 11 2009

This is partially inspired by Gala’s ‘Things I Love Thursday’, but also by the fact there are such a lot of things I see online which I love, but have no real ‘outlet’ for, apart from to add them to my we heart it when I get the chance, so I thought I might made ‘Things I love’ posts a regular thing here.

It’s probably also worth mentioning the fact that my Action Book arrived yesterday, and I am super excited to have used it the past couple of days. I love it already and genuinely think it’s going to prove to be a super useful tool.

// Graphic Design Day

27 04 2009

Happy Graphic Design Day everyone! To ‘celebrate’ the day, I thought I would write a blog share some of my current favourite business card designs.

I use my account on weheartit to bookmark things which are a) of interest, or b) inspirational – these are both. I add to my resources as and when possible and I have a nice selection of things building up my account.

// Manhattan

25 10 2008

Those who know me well know that I have a burning desire to a) go back to New York and b) to live there one day. I’m determined to fulfil one, if not both, of those wishes, or have put the latter in action by the time I’m thirty.

Until the time comes for me to return to my city of dreams, I wanted to share what I regard as a fantastic piece of design work, based upon New York, specifically Manhattan:

This original image was found on WeHeartIt, but unfortunately it’s original source wasn’t stated (any further than Design*Sponge where I found this entry). However, a bit of further digging lead me to believe it part of this series, though it is no longer listed as a colour option on the website.

If anyone can shed any light on whether it still exists I’ll be eternally grateful as I would love to purchase this, but none of the current colour options appeal to me as much as this version.

In August, I started my new job as a Graphic Designer. Having graduated with a degree in Graphic Design, and working for eight months for a small design firm, I’m slowly but surely getting back into the swing of things, and it’s fair to say that I love it!

My job entails logo development (including the rebrand of the company I work for!), corporate stationery, promotional flyers, brochures…the list could go on. Today I think the final design for the new company logo was approved which is fantastic because I can now press on with the layout and design of our print requirements.

I’ve recently joined we heart it where I am able to bookmark things I love for future reference. I’ve only added a new things thus far but it’s one of my bookmarks at work and at home so I hope to be able to build up a really good collection over the coming months. One of my favourite ‘hearts’ at the moment is Pantone Autumn which has really inspired me. It’s something I would definitely have a go at if I had a pantone chip booklet. Alas…!

Another current fixation has to be the new Royal Mint 2008 designs. I love the concept of the pound sign displaying the Shield of the Royal Arms in its entirety, with the smaller denominations displaying a ‘taster’ section. I’ve only managed to acquire a 1p and a 5p so far, but I’m keeping my eyes peeled for the other coins as I’d love to collect a full set. Watch this space…!
